App to calculate the height / length percentile, weight and cranial perimeter of children and adolescents from 0 weeks to 18 years.
The app uses data from the World Health Organization (WHO) for data entered from children under 5 years old. From that age, the data used for the calculation comes from the study conducted by the Faustino Orbegozo Eizaguirre Foundation. The reasons for using these two data sources are the following:
- The data of the Faustino Orbegozo Eizaguirre Foundation are those used by the pediatricians of the Social Security in some autonomous communities of Spain.
- The WHO data only reach up to 5 years, while those of the Faustino Orbegozo Eizaguirre Foundation reach up to 18. Therefore, if the data entered are from a child over 5 years of age, the data will be used for the calculation of the percentile will be in any case those of the Faustino Orbegozo Eizaguirre Foundation.
Regarding the differences between the data from both sources, the fundamental one is that the WHO study was carried out with children from different countries (India, Brazil, US Oman, Norway and Ghana), fed only with breast milk. On the other hand, the study of the Faustino Orbegozo Eizaguirre Foundation was carried out with Basque children with a mixture of food with breast milk and bottle (in the study it does not specify it, so we suppose they were mixed).
